Starting at an online business can be quite a daunting task, as there’s just so much information to take in. What niche are you going to focus on and who is going to be your perfect audience? What product should you create, and how should you sell it? What traffic source are you going to focus all of your efforts on? And the questions can keep adding up, too.
However, once you answer some of the biggest questions, like what you’re going to be selling and who it’s going to be sold to, it’s time to start taking a look at how you’ll be generating leads and making sales. Thanks to many online software tools like ClickFunnels, generating leads is now so much easier than it ever used to be.
Creating High-Converting Landing Pages With ClickFunnels
So what is a landing page anyway? It’s a page that you land on after clicking on a specific link, offer, or even advertisement. In other words, the name itself pretty much explains the main purpose. However, there are going to be a variety of different purposes that landing pages are created for.
One of the biggest purposes is going to be for generating leads, which we will talk about in the rest of this article. Other purposes include generating sales, filling out an application form, or simply sending an email with a request for more information.
ClickFunnels is one of the most popular software tools and is a great place to start creating landing pages. They come with a fourteen-day free trial and then after the trial ends, they have two subscription pricing plans. Depending on what you pay to create landing pages, ClickFunnels allows you to create 100 landing pages or an unlimited amount if you choose the Platinum plan.
Here are the steps that you’ll need to follow in order to create your first landing page with the ClickFunnels software. Don’t worry, it’s a pretty easy process to follow along with.
Selecting A Landing Page Template
With ClickFunnels, you have the luxury of picking from almost 100 landing page templates. This can either be a gift or a curse. It’s a gift because you have many great options to choose from. It can be a curse because it might take a little longer for you to pick out the best template for your needs.
If you need some help with making a choice, it’s recommended that you go with a landing page template that is simple, as opposed to being flashy. Simple tends to work better, but the most important element of conversions will be based upon what your lead generation landing page has to offer (more on that soon).
After picking the appropriate template for your lead generation page, you then get the opportunity to use the drag and drop builder that ClickFunnels features. It’s a pretty smooth process, but you’ll want to make sure that you focus on a few key elements.
Editing The Main Elements Of Your ClickFunnels Landing Page
Maybe you’ve already chosen ClickFunnels to make your landing pages, or maybe you’re going to look for an alternative platform. Regardless of what option you pick, these elements are going to be a crucial part of converting at a high rate.
Let’s start from the top of the landing page and then work down towards the bottom.
1) Who
If your visitors choose to read from the top part of your landing page first, they will quickly glance at the “who” section first. So what is the “who” section all about anyway? This is a quick sentence that tells who your free gift will be for.
Let’s rewind a bit first. Your lead generation page is going to need some type of free gift that is used to incentivize visitors to enter their email address. This free gift is also referred to as a lead magnet, and it’s another big aspect of your overall conversion rates.
So in the “who” section, you want to simply state what this free gift is and who it’s going to be ideal for. Here are a few examples so that you can get a better idea of what I’m talking about.
- Free video training for bloggers.
- Free case study for Facebook advertisers.
- Free PDF cheatsheet for online business owners.
As you can see from above, it’s a very simple formula, and it only requires one sentence. Free (enter in what they are getting) for (your targeted audience). Just fill in the blanks in that template and then you can move onto the next section.
2) What
This is the most important element of your lead generation page, and this is going to help answer the question, what’s in it for me? This lead generation page is all about your visitors and helping them solve a problem, so it very well better be worth the time for them to give you their email address and access whatever it is that you’re giving them.
In terms of explaining your free gift, you will do this with the help from a headline. This headline will also be centered and directly under the description of what they will be receiving. Here is a few examples of proven templates that have worked for decades.
- Who else wants (add your benefit here)?
- How to (positive outcome) without (doing something they don’t want to do).
Let’s look at a few examples when using these templates, starting with the first one.
- Who else wants to grow their Instagram following?
- Who else wants to double their organic website traffic?
And one more example of creating a positive outcome without doing something they hate.
- How to increase your sales without spending more money on traffic.
- How to grow your Instagram following without creating live videos.
Those few examples should give you a good idea of what a general headline can look like. It’s recommended that you create two or three headlines that you can split-test in the future (more on that soon). It’s also a great practice to guess and see which headline will work the best, as the results just might surprise you.
3) Where
So where can your visitors expect to receive this free gift that you’re offering? This section will simply be the optin box where they can enter their primary email address. You’ll also notice that there is sometimes a section for entering your name, but I would recommend against this.
The more fields that your visitors have to enter, generally the lower the conversions. So unless you need their name, which there will be times that you do, say for webinars, making a phone call, or sending direct mail, then it’s best practice to just include a box for their email address.
So those are the three biggest elements that you’ll want to include in your lead generation page. Everything after that is simply a cherry on top. It’s better to get your landing page live and start sending some traffic, as opposed to letting it sit around and trying to make it perfect.
You can always edit the pictures, font, text, color, and so on and so forth, later. One of the biggest secrets to seeing conversions is to just get started, so make sure that you do that as quickly as possible.
Split-Testing Your Landing Page To Increase Conversions
So remember when it was recommended to come up with a few ideas for your headline? This is where that is going to come into play. ClickFunnels comes with the ability to split-test all of your landing pages, and it’s very easy to do.
All you have to do is click on the Create Variation button to kickstart the process.
From there, simply click on the button that allows you to make a duplicate landing page. This landing page will be identical, and for good reason. Once it’s created, you will go into the new copy and add one of your other headlines.
By doing this, it allows ClickFunnels to test out two separate pages at once. It’s also recommended that you send 50% of traffic to each of the two landing pages. This is to make sure that they each get an even amount of traffic to ensure the best split-testing results.
Split-testing is an essential process of creating and converting your landing pages, and it’s helpful that ClickFunnels makes it a pretty simple process.
Landing Pages With ClickFunnels Summary
I hope that you learned more about the essential elements of creating landing pages with ClickFunnels. Even if you don’t choose to use ClickFunnels, these are all important factors that can be beneficial when creating landing pages with any type of software.
Lastly, just make sure that you create and launch your landing page as quickly as possible. I understand that this has been stated already, but it’s probably one of the most important elements of creating a landing page. You can’t expect to generate leads if no one sees the landing page that you’ve created. Get it out in front of your audience, and then make adjustments after.
